Virtual Writing Everywhere
Meta just shipped another Reality dial signal - “virtual writing” that turns any surface into an input layer for messaging. No phone, no keyboard, no screen-tapping.
At CES 2026, Meta announced EMG handwriting for its Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses + Meta Neural Band. You can draw words with your finger on any surface and have that motion transcribed into messages for WhatsApp and Messenger (early access for now, US-only, English-only).
This is Reality pressure because it expands where computation lives - communication becomes a head-up, ambient interface where the physical world doubles as the UI. A tabletop, your leg, the air - it all becomes “the keyboard”, and the AI layer sits between gesture → intent → message.
“This is cutting-edge technology for the seamless control of your AI glasses — and a veritable glimpse into the future of communication.” - Meta
If this sticks, it’s a preview of interaction that’s less “devices you hold” and more surfaces you inhabit - with AI mediating not just what you say, but how effortlessly you can say it.
