'Personal Intelligence' For Billions Of Users
Google releases a new AI service that offers to turn 'All Your Data' into 'Personal Intelligence'.
Google is explicitly building “Personal Intelligence” as a mainstream “Iife interface” for Gemini - by wiring it into the apps where your real life already lives: Gmail, Photos, YouTube, and Search.
They frame it as Gemini’s ability to “reason across complex sources” and retrieve specifics from your own emails/photos to answer questions and “do things for you” once you opt in and choose what to connect. That’s upward pressure on the Reality dial - the AI layer increasingly sits “between you and your communications + data”, shaping what you see, what’s prioritised, and what actions get taken.
Now combine that with Gmail entering the “Gemini era”. Google is rolling out AI Overviews so you can “ask your inbox anything” instead of searching and stitching threads together - and they remind us that 3 billion users rely on Gmail. That’s how the interface thickens fast - not a niche tool, but an ambient mediator across the default communication substrate for billions.
